Everything you need to know about trampolining and autism

We all know by now that regular exercise works wonders for body and mind. But what many people don't know, especially parents of children with autism or other special needs, is that trampolining can have many positive effects on your child's development and overall well-being.

What does a trampoline have to do with autism?

Children with autism or other developmental disorders often have deficits and delays in fine motor skills. Trampolining is not only fun, but also promotes the development of a sense of balance and coordination. Regular trampoline exercises help build muscle and boost your child's overall confidence. Having fun together with peers on the trampoline can also promote general communication skills. In addition, if you feel comfortable in your own skin, you can also concentrate better while studying.

Some children with autism spectrum disorders suffer from excessive stress and anxiety. Controlled and rhythmic jumping exercises can help alleviate this and have a strong calming effect. It is a moment of the day when your child does not have to think about anything, but can simply relieve his stress.

Have you heard of rebound therapy?

Rebound therapy dates back to the 1970s and is a form of physiotherapy. Therapists typically used trampolines to allow children with developmental disabilities to jump in a safe and fun environment. The goal of therapy is to build up the child's muscle tone and improve overall coordination. When jumping, children focus on maintaining their balance while promoting their physical flexibility.

Safety is our top priority

Every child should be able to have fun, regardless of their physical abilities. Understandably, parents often worry about the safety aspects when they think of trampolines.

As a perfect entry-level model, we recommend the Legend model, which is equipped with 30 mm thick and soft safety padding. Thanks to the powerful, air-permeable jumping mat, it is possible to make a good jump without much effort, which is rarely the case with cheaper trampoline variants. Legend's rugged and stable frame gives you an absolute sense of security. The "Zero Gap" safety zipper prevents the child from falling out.
In addition, a safety harness directs the user back to the trampoline and in addition, a self-closing entrance ensures that children do not have to remember to zip up, guaranteeing total safety.

A specially adapted version – Legend Low – is also available for children with more severe physical limitations, as it is only 20 cm above the ground, making it easier for children and parents to get on and off.

Younger children may not yet have the balance and coordination needed for safe jumping. Younger children should always be closely supervised, and many safety experts recommend allowing only one jumper at a time to reduce the risk of collisions.
